About Seeds to Trees

     Welcome to Seeds to Trees,

This blog was originally started to promote the goal of creating a conservation learning center in Belize as an opportunity for the local youth to become more involved with their local environment as well as their communities. This idea first started after I had spent seven months living in Belize falling in love with their culture, communities, and biologically rich environment. The country itself is small with a population of about 350,000 people. Of those 350,000 about 50% are aged 18 years or younger making it a very youthful country. Unfortunately a lot of Belize youth are unable to afford even primary education, as their parents must pay to send their kids to public school. This sparked the idea of creating a non-profit conservation learning center to serve as an alternative to those students who can not afford a proper education. With time and the help of others I hope Seeds to Trees (ST) can grown into a non-profit private school, while also serving as a learning center for the local community.

Eventually, ST should serve as a model to promote environmental and community stewardship through education. It has become so important to ensure that the youth of today is prepared for the world of tomorrow. Although this idea started out as something so simple, it has grown into so much more. In an attempt to gather as much knowledge and advice as I could, it was decided while spending time in Costa Rica that I would visit other organizations that shared my ideas. I must thank the La Paz school for inspiring me to take my dream and make it even bigger. There are more schools and organizations out there than one would think who are trying to better the youth of today. This is why i find it so important to start sharing their stories, in order to inspire people to look towards a new way to teach our children.

Seeds to Trees is still very new and has not yet taken a physical form, with the help of others anything is possible. It has been said that a single person can change the world, but I don't think that is true. One person can have an idea, but it takes many people to make an idea grow into action. I hope this blog inspires you to see education in a new light, and the bond it can create between people, communities, and our environment.
